Albert V. Ancelet graduated from Carthage High School, Carthage, Illinois in 1965. After high school he served four years in the United States Air Force being stationed for one year in Southeast Asia, and was honorably discharged in 1969. He attended Illinois State University, graduating in 1972, and enrolled at Kent College of Law in Chicago, Illinois, graduating in June, 1975. While there Mr. Ancelet served as a member of the Student Bar Association and was also a member of the Dean’s Selection Committee.
He was admitted to the Bar in the Fall of 1975 and became an Associate of Capps and Ripple Law Firm, becoming a partner in May of 1976.
He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Hancock County Bar Association, and is an active member of the Capital Litigation Trial Bar and serves on the Screening Committee for the Litigation Trial Bar.
He has been a Past President of the Carthage Kiwanis Club and the Jaycees, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors for Carthage Memorial Hospital and the Hancock County Nursing Home. As an avid golfer, Albert is a director of the Carthage Golf Board.
His firm represents several municipalities and banks, and handles dissolution proceedings, criminal law, civil proceedings, probate and estate administration, trusts, real estate law, and tax preparation.
Mr. Ancelet enjoys golfing, racquetball, downhill skiing, and hunting. He is single and has two children, Jeff of St. Louis, Mo., and Amy of Quincy, IL.
