Jonathan Brohard brings a unique perspective to his clients, having spent a significant portion of his career as an officer in several entrepreneurial real estate companies. This experience has given him an extensive knowledge of the business aspects of real estate and his practice has a transactional focus. The combination of his legal and business experience also allows him to function as an outside general counsel.
Jonathan has extensive legal and practical experience with real estate acquisitions, sales, financing, development, operations, management, and leasing. He is regularly involved in complex financing structures, including institutional debt and equity, private equity, joint ventures and syndications. The clients he serves include buyers, sellers, developers, borrowers, lenders, investors, landlords and tenants.
Jonathan has experience with virtually all types of real estate, including multi-family housing, hotels, student housing, office, industrial, retail, assisted living, single-family developments, and master-planned communities.
In addition, Jonathan has served on the board of directors of two real estate investment trusts (REITs).
Represented a lender in the acquisition of a luxury hotel, restaurant, spa, and related real estate assets in lieu of foreclosure of aggregate loans of $115 million.Represented the preferred equity investor in a $142 million acquisition from a special servicer of a multi-family portfolio with 14 properties across six states.Represented a national multi-family investment company in the acquisition and debt and equity financing of a $37 million apartment community.Represented a national multi-family investment company in the acquisition and debt and equity financing of a $50 million apartment community.Represented a NYSE-traded company in the creation of a new investment platform focused on the acquisition, leasing, and management of single-family homes on a national scale.Negotiated and closed the acquisition by a AMEX-traded company of property and asset management agreements and related assets for a national portfolio of approximately 80 properties.
