DescriptionSarah Clayton Phillips is originally from Georgia, but has called New Orleans home since 2008. She attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Art History. While attending Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans, Sarah received a rigorous education in criminal law, criminal code of procedure, evidence, family law and personal injury. During her second year, she was accepted into the Trial Advocacy Program and was selected to compete in national mock trial competitions throughout the country. After competing nationally, Sarah was elected President and served on the Executive Board during her final year of law school. After competing, she coached several national mock trial teams. To this day, Sarah continues to stay involved with the law school program and continues to help coach competition teams alongside her husband, and law partner, Bradley. In addition to her work with the Trial Advocacy Program, Sarah was selected as a Rule XX Student Attorney for the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice. Sarah clerked at the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office in the Juvenile Division, helping the district attorney prosecute cases. After clerking at the Juvenile Division, Sarah clerked at the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office Appeals Divisions, writing writs and crafting responses to the 4th District Court of Appeals. Finally, Sarah clerked as a student attorney at the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office in the Felony Trials Division. During her time at the Jefferson Parish DA’s office, Sarah helped prosecutors with pre-trial and trial phase, including a high profile death penalty case. In 2011, Sarah graduated from Loyola with a Juris Doctor in Common Law, along with certificates in International Law and Environmental Law. Upon graduation, Sarah received the prestigious Order of the Barristers award for her work and excellence in oral advocacy during law school. Sarah was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 2011 and the Georgia Bar in 2014. She is heavily involved in the law community and is a member of numerous law organizations including the New Orleans Bar Association, American Association and Justice, and volunteers with the Pro Bono Project helping low income families with child custody and support issues. She is a compassionate and dedicated attorney, who is committed to serving the Greater New Orleans community through the practice of law. Since 2011, Sarah has represented over 350 clients, primarily in family law and personal injury. In 2015, Sarah was nominated and was chosen to the 2016 Louisiana Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers. This honor is limited to no more than 2.5% of attorneys within Louisiana. During her spare time, Sarah loves cooking and spending time with their two dogs at home. She also enjoys hiking, the outdoors and enjoys dancing and parading with the dance group “The Sirens” during Mardi Gras and throughout the year.
