After graduating in Chemical Engineering, Adda wasn’t sure what to do next. A wise mentor suggested law school. She took that advice and has never looked back, getting involved in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals early on, representing U.S. and international clients from startups to Fortune 500 companies, including Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Apotex Inc., AutoImmune Inc., Cognition Therapeutics Inc., Dompe Farmaceutici, Forest Laboratories, Kalsec, Inc., Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation, NicOx S.A., Novartis, NovoNordisk, Novozymes, Nuevolution A/S, Purdue Frederic, New York University, Recordati S.p.A., Sandoz Inc., GlycoZym Inc., Institut de Myologie, UPM-Kymmene, and Valio Ltd.

Adda’s practice spans a broad range, but she focuses on counseling, prosecution, and opinion work. She does complex U.S. patent prosecution (including appeals, reissues, reexaminations, and interferences) as well as global patent procurement and patent opposition management. On the counseling side, Adda develops patent and lifecycle extension strategies and advises on Hatch-Waxman issues such as patent term extension, Orange Book listing and Paragraph IV challenges. She also has considerable experience in IP due diligence investigations and in agreement drafting and negotiation. But perhaps Adda is best known for her exculpatory and pre-assertion legal opinions in the areas of pharmaceuticals (including new molecular entities), biomolecules, and diagnostic systems.

Her technical experience includes organic molecules and synthetic pathways (in areas such as antihypertensives, lower urinary tract modulators, microtubulin inhibitors, protease inhibitors, ion channel modulators and CNS drugs); drug delivery systems, complex protein structure and architecture, cellular signaling, and multiplex assay systems.

She also writes and speaks frequently in the U.S. and abroad on various intellectual property topics. Since 2006, she has co-chaired an annual three-day seminar and clinic for the Practicing Law Institute.

Adda is an "exercising couch potato" who loves cultural events nonfiction and books from popularized science and psychology to biographies and personal accounts.
