In the area of water law, Ronnie has defended parties’ water rights in state and federal stream adjudications and helps clients with individual water rights and groundwater disputes.
Assisted clients with environmental permit applications, permit compliance, responses to alleged permit violations, and review and comment on permit applications by third parties. Led successful administrative appeals of environmental permit decisions. Negotiated settlements with state and federal agencies regarding hazardous waste violations. Performed environmental compliance audits and developed compliance management procedures. Helped numerous clients in litigation, negotiations, and commercial transactions relating to the remediation and redevelopment of contaminated property, including abandoned dry-cleaning sites, agricultural pesticide facilities, and solid waste landfills. Performed potentially responsible party searches under federal and state Superfund laws. Negotiated allocations of liability under federal and state Superfund laws with agencies and individual parties. Provided counsel on cleanup strategies, goals, and site closure. Assisted water providers in obtaining replacement supplies for contaminated water wells. Negotiated settlement of liability for petroleum releases from underground storage tanks. Negotiated settlements and agreements with Native American regulatory agencies involving Native American claims or land. Assisted with drafting and reviewing environmental assessments for commercial development and real property transactions.
