Mr. Kim is a partner of the law firm of Chee Markham & Feldman and practices primarily in the areas of commercial and construction litigation, including the representation of individuals, developers, contractors, materials suppliers, business entities, insurers and sureties in contract issues, commercial disputes, construction defects, mechanics and materialmans lien and bond actions, federal, state and county procurement, insurance coverage, torts, commercial collections and lease disputes, at both the trial court and appellate levels. Haw. 2010), aff’d, No. 10-15415 (9th Cir. Jul. 24, 2012). He has received Martindale Hubbell’s AV Preeminent Rating, which is the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards, reflecting the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and Judiciary.
Mr. Kim received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1984. He attended the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1987. While attending law school, Mr. Kim was selected to serve as a member and as an articles editor of the University of Hawaii Law Review, as a member of the Moot Court Board and received the Corpus Juris Secundum Award. Following graduation from law school, Mr. Kim served as a law clerk to the Honorable Harry T. Tanaka of the Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals from 1987-1988, after which he entered private practice.
Mr. Kim is on the panel of arbitrators for the Court Annexed Arbitration Program, serves on the Hawaii State Trial Judges Association/Hawaii State Bar Association Committee, and serves as a volunteer attorney with the Hawaii Judiciary’s Access to Justice initiative. Mr. Kim has served multiple terms as president and is presently a director of the Kiwanis Club of Pearl Harbor and the Pearl Harbor Kiwanis Foundation.
