Joel Overlund has practiced family law in Oregon for 25 years. He obtained his undergraduate degree in 1981 from Concordia College in Morehead, MN, with a major in Business Administration and minors in Political Science and Religion. He earned his law degree in 1987 from Willamette University College of Law in Salem, OR.

From 1990-2013 Joel practiced family law with St. Andrew Legal Clinic (SALC) a low income legal service provider in the Portland, OR metropolitan area. SALC specialized in family law cases. He was a staff attorney with SALC for 5 years and then became the Executive Director, a position which he held for 18 years. As Executive Director, Joel was the firm’s managing partner, overseeing a staff of 18 lawyers at one point. During his time, SALC grew from one office with 4 lawyers to four offices with 18 lawyers serving low-income people throughout Oregon. His job combined handling cases, doing trial work, working with Board of Directors, and helping with Outreach and fundraising. Joel joined Bond, Fay & Overlund LLC in 2013.

Joel is married, has three children, five grandchildren and two cats. He enjoys cycling, back packing, traveling, reading and a good bottle of wine.
