Mr. Schwartz has been practicing law in Contra Costa County for 40 years. He is board certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He was co-lead counsel in the case of Nguyen v. Xu, which recently resulted in a $13.7 million jury verdict. A graduate of the University of San Francisco (J.D.) in 1975, Mr. Schwartz was admitted to the California and Federal Bars the same year and to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1979. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of both the Contra Costa County Legal Services Foundation and the Alameda/Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association, and is Chairman of the Contra Costa Superior Court’s ADR Committee.
